On June 24, the Supreme Court had dismissed the petition of Zakia Ahsan Jafri on the Gujarat riots case, saying that Teesta Setalvad has been continuously involved in this matter.

Gujarat ATS detained social activist Teesta Setalvad in Mumbai. In fact, social worker Teesta Setalvad has been detained by ATS for questioning in a case related to NGO. Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court had rejected the report of the SIT giving clean chit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Gujarat riots. The Supreme Court had said in the judgment that Teesta has played with the sentiments of the petitioner Jafri.

SC directs inquiry

The court said that Teesta Setalvad has been continuously entering this case, which should be investigated. At the same time, the court said, Teesta has also tried to control Jafri's family on the pretext of this matter.

Know what is the matter

Setalvad supported Zakia Jafri throughout the legal battle. Ehsan Jafri was among the 68 people killed on 28 February 2002 at the Gulberg Society in Ahmedabad. A day earlier, a coach of the Sabarmati Express was set on fire in Godhra, in which 59 people were killed. It was only after these incidents that riots broke out in Gujarat. The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed Zakia Jafri's plea alleging a larger conspiracy behind the riots.

Amit Shah also accused Teesta

During an interview on Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah had also considered Teesta Setalvad's role of NDO suspicious, accusing him of giving false information about the Gujarat riots. Along with this, Shah had also attacked the then UPA government.
