There is constant talk of giving captain of the T20 team to Rohit Sharma in place of Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian cricket team. In the Indian Premier League, Virat captains Royal Challengers Bangalore while Rohit is the captain of Mumbai Indians. Mumbai has won the tournament title 5 times so far while Kohli has not been able to win the trophy even once to Royal Challengers.

Former Indian selector Sarandeep Singh has backed Kohli's retention. He says that there is no need to create a separate captain for the Indian team. Kohli is consistently doing well and he would not have been able to do so if there was pressure from the captaincy. He cannot be removed from the captaincy of the Indian team for not winning the trophy while captaining the IPL franchise team.

He told PTI, different captains are needed when your captain is not performing but Virat Kohli is the only player who has scored more than 50 in each format. If he was not performing in any one format, then you could take the captain and give pressure to someone else to reduce the pressure on him.

Just because they have not won an IPL title even once, so you cannot take away the captaincy of the Indian team from them. He is the most fit player and captain. In his absence Rohit Sharma is present to captain the team but there is no reason why he replaces Virat.
