The Maharashtra government has imposed a curfew in the entire state from April 14 to May 1 due to the rapid increase of Covid-19 infection on Tuesday i.e. April 13, but this curfew has been banned from the Wankhede Stadium. It Will not have any impact on the IPL matches. According to the IPL Organization Committee sources, the matches of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) at the Wankhede Stadium will be as per the scheduled schedule. Sources have said that we have taken special permission for the matches to be held in Mumbai. Everything will be according to plan with the necessary precautions.
10 IPL matches are to be played at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Two of them have been played. There are eight matches left. The next match will be played on Thursday (April 15) between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals. Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings will compete on Friday (16 April). On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that essential services have been exempted from it during the curfew. CM Thackeray said that Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure will remain in force till the restrictions remain in force like lockdown.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said, "We are imposing strict restrictions. Section 144 will be applicable in the entire state on Wednesday. I wouldn't call it a lockdown. Local trains, bus services, and essential services will continue to operate, petrol pumps, financial institutions, construction work, hotels, restaurants will remain closed. Only customers will be able to take the goods home. That is, there will be home delivery. Cinema halls, theaters, amusements park, gym, the sports complex will remain closed
. On Tuesday, 60,212 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in the state and 281 people died. The government has taken this step in view of the increasing incidence of infections in a worrisome manner.
