With a record of more than two and a half lakh new cases of corona infection in the country, the government has started making all-around preparations to stop the epidemic. Every step is being taken firmly to deal with the acute crisis day by day. Measures are being taken to ensure oxygen availability and uninterrupted supply. Vaccine production is being increased to speed up the vaccination campaign. Also, every step is being taken to increase the production capacity of antiviral injection remedesivir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Friday on the uninterrupted supply of oxygen among all the states, especially the 12 states severely affected by the Corona epidemic. In it, detailed information was given by the Ministry of Health about efforts to increase oxygen demand, supply chain, production capacity, and availability from various states. The Prime Minister emphasized better coordination between all concerned ministries and state governments. He instructed to make full use of the production capacity of oxygen and to remove all kinds of obstacles in the supply. The severely affected states are Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.

After meeting with the Prime Minister, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written a letter to all states and union territories instructing them not to impose any restriction on the movement of oxygen, terming it as an essential item in the Corona period.

Steps to overcome vaccine shortage in the next two months

According to one study, herd immunity is the most effective way to prevent the corona epidemic. But for this, vaccination of at least 70 million people in India is necessary. For this, the government is doing its best to overcome the shortage of vaccines. The doors of India have been opened for all major foreign vaccines. The supply of foreign vaccine will also start in four to six weeks. Apart from this, the government is providing financial assistance of Rs 65 crore to indigenous vaccine producing company Bharat Biotech to increase production capacity. This will double the production of covaxine by May-June. The company is joining two to three local companies to increase production. With this, production of covaxine is expected to increase to about 100 million doses every month by September.

There is also a ban on the export of Remedesivir

Every step is also being taken to increase the availability of anti-viral injection Remadecivir, which is important in the treatment of Corona. Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Friday tweeted that states and Union Territories have been provided with approximately one and a half million vials of Remedisvir. Even before the export ban was imposed, the domestic market has received four lakh vials. Its production has also increased from 38 lakhs to 41 lakhs every month and measures are being taken to double it.

Temporary hospitals are being built

In view of increasing cases of corona infection, temporary hospitals are also being set up in different parts of the country. Emphasis is being given to increase beds in existing hospitals as well. On the instructions of the Defense Minister, the Defense Research and Development Organization is building two temporary hospitals in Lucknow. Temporary hospitals are also being built in Mumbai. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan is visiting hospitals to assess facilities. On Friday, he visited Delhi AIIMS and asked to increase the number of beds in the trauma center. ITBP is also activating its own hospitals.
