There has been a lot of uproar in various parts of the country, including Delhi, on the use of Remedesvir injection. Reports of black marketing of Remedesvir have also started coming in many places. Remedesvir was treated as a panacea for the treatment of corona infections. At the same time, AIIMS has removed this drug from its protocol, almost denying these claims. AIIMS on Thursday made significant changes to its protocol to treat corona infections. Under the new protocol, remedesvir medication will not be used in the treatment of corona-infected patients with less serious diseases. At the same time, inhalational budesonide will be used to treat corona-infected patients with mild diseases.
Depending on the condition of the patient, doctors will be able to use emergency of Remedesvir
The AIIMS administration reported that three categories of corona infects have been created under the protocol. Corona infected patients with mild diseases, less severe diseases, and severe diseases. Under the protocol, corona infectives with mild diseases will undergo treatment in home isolation. If these patients have difficulty in breathing or have fever for more than five days or there is a change in oxygen saturation, an immediate medical facility will be provided.
Protocol approves use only under antiviral therapy
The use of a budesonide inhaler has been mentioned in the protocol for the first time with ivermectin in the treatment of these patients. In case of fever or cough for more than five days, these medicines will be used only after consulting the doctors. Such corona-infected patients with less serious diseases will be admitted to the ward, whose oxygen level is less than 93 and breathing speed will be more than 24 per minute.
Doctors can use it in emergency condition
In the old AIIMS protocol, remedesvir injection was used to treat such patients under antiviral therapy. However, this has been removed in the new protocol. According to the protocol, patients with corona infection with severe diseases whose oxygen level will be less than 90 and breathing speed above 30 per minute will be admitted to the ICU. AIIMS has stated in its new protocol that remadecivir injection will be used according to the patient's condition. Doctors can use it in an emergency condition.
What is the expert saying
Remedesvir injection is not necessary for everyone. People should understand this. There are some patients who can benefit from it. Therefore AIIMS has placed it in the Emergency category. Two days ago the WHO also removed Remedesvir injection from its list of medicines.
