The Delhi government in the capital has taken another relief step to help construction workers during the corona. The Labor Department of Delhi Government has announced that in the epidemic, the registered construction workers of Corona positive and their families will be given assistance of Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000 as a medical aid. The assistance amount will be sent directly to the accounts of the construction workers by checking the RTM-PCR report on the portal of ICMR. These assistance funds will help in reducing the financial crisis of the workers during the Corona period.
Food distribution centers set up in all districts for workers engaged in daily wages and construction work
The Delhi government has also started more than 150 food distribution centers at several schools and construction sites in all districts of Delhi to cater to the needs of migrant, daily wage and other workers engaged in construction work. So far, around 83 thousand food packets have been distributed through these centers.
Positive initiative of Delhi government to overcome financial crisis of construction workers
The Delhi Government is always ready to assist the migrant, daily wage and construction workers in times of Corona crisis. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also appealed to the workers and migrants not to leave Delhi as the Delhi government is ensuring all kinds of assistance for them.
2 Lakh workers were given assistance of 100 crores
It is worth mentioning that the Delhi government has provided financial assistance of Rs. 5-5 thousand to the registered construction workers of the capital. So far, about 2 lakh workers have been given assistance of 100 crores. Last year, the number of registered construction workers in Delhi was around 55 thousand, they were provided assistance of Rs 5-5 thousand by the Delhi government during the lockdown last year. A large number of workers were registered after this government started a mega registration drive. Delhi currently has 1 lakh 72 thousand registered construction workers.
