30th April, 2021
The third phase of the vaccination campaign is going to start in the whole country from today. Around 25 million people between the ages of 18 and 44 have also registered for this, but they do not know where to get the vaccine. Most states have expressed their inability to start a vaccination campaign from May 1. At the same time, people over the age of 45 are finding it difficult to find new vaccination centers for taking the first or second dose for free.
Health Ministry is also silent
So far, before the commencement of every phase of vaccination, the Ministry of Health, giving detailed information about its preparations, has kept silent on the third phase. There was no clear response from the Ministry of Health, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Luv Agarwal, to the questions asked in the press conference on Friday.
Secretary Luv Agarwal could not even tell which states the vaccination of youth between 18 and 44 years was going to start and how many people have been allotted time and place so far. Apart from this, he also failed to say how much of the total vaccine dose will be available in the country on May 1, out of which 50 percent of the states and the private sector have to get it.
Only assurance ...
Secretary Love Agarwal only gave assurance that in the next few days the third phase vaccination campaign would start running smoothly. The problem is not only for people between 18 and 44 years but also for people above 45 years. They have to get the vaccine free of cost by the central government, but they too are unable to get the vaccination center on the Kovin platform. There are many of them, who have to have their second dose of vaccine in the first week of May.
Refusal to give free commentary
In fact, in the third phase, the central government has refused to give free vaccines at private vaccination centers. Private centers will have to return the remaining vaccine dose by Friday. At private centers, now only the private sector will be able to get the vaccine at a fixed price or the vaccine will be available from the states. For this also, states have to register private centers as their center on the Cowin portal.
Difficulties increased for other dodgers
For free immunization being run by the central government for people over 45 years, the states will have to set up government vaccine centers and inform them on the Cowin platform. The list of these government centers has not yet been updated on the Kovin platform. There is a big problem with other dosages. They need the second dose for the same vaccine as the first dose. In such a situation, it is also necessary to have information on the Kovin platform, which government center will have to go for the second dose.
Expected to start in Madhya Pradesh from May 5
Vaccination of people above 18 years of age in Madhya Pradesh is expected to begin by May 5. This vaccine will be applied only to those who have registered on the portal. The Government of Madhya Pradesh has made a provision of Rs 2700 crore for a free vaccination to all. It is known that the program of vaccination was to begin from May 1 but it is delayed due to non-receipt of doses. The state government has ordered 45 lakhs to Serum Institute and 10 lakh vaccines to Biotech.
Beginning with seven districts in U.P.
In Uttar Pradesh, corona vaccination of people in the age group of 18 to 44 will start from Saturday in seven districts where the infection is highest. These districts include Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut, and Bareilly. These are the districts in which there are more than 9000 active cases of corona infection. So far, 1,01,49,009 people above 45 years of age have received the first dose of the Corona vaccine. At the same time, 22,33,929 people have been given a second dose.
Immunization suspended in Punjab
The Punjab government has postponed vaccination for the age group of 18 to 45 years due to lack of vaccine. In a virtual meeting with officials, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that the Serum Institute had been ordered to have 30 lakh doses of Kovishield on April 26 for the age group of 18 to 45 but has responded that the availability of the vaccine was detected in four weeks.
Chhattisgarh CM said this
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that we will apply free of cost Kovid vaccine to the people of 18-45 years old. We have completed all the preparations in all the districts for the vaccination program starting from May 1st. The Government of India has informed that it will provide 1,03,040 vaccine doses for the vaccination of people between 18-45 years old. He has also said that since there is a shortage of vaccines, we will introduce vaccination to the poorest people in our state (who have Antyodaya cards).
Bengal and Uttarakhand government said this
The West Bengal government has said that a vaccination campaign for people between the ages of 18 and 45 will begin after the state receives vaccine doses. Vaccination will continue for the age group over 45 years. On the other hand, Uttarakhand Health Secretary Amit Negi said that the Central Government has given us an allocation of about 1,22,000 doses of Covishield Vaccine and 42,000 doses of Covaxine for people above 18 years of age. It will be difficult to say the date of commencement of the third phase vaccination.
Delhi, Haryana and Goa expressed inability
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that vaccines had not yet been received for people between 18 and 45 years old. We will start a vaccination campaign as soon as we get the vaccine. The lockdown will not be extended, I urge people to stay home and cooperate with the government. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the vaccine has not reached us yet. We are constantly in contact with the company. We hope that the vaccine will come by tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said that we will start work as soon as the vaccine arrives.
