In view of the increasing cases of corona in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has extended the lockdown in 4 districts till 7 am on May 6. The lockdown in all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir was to end at 7 am on Monday, but the government has issued orders to extend the lockdown in Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, and Jammu till 7 am on May 6.
At the same time, the lockdown imposed in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to curb the corona is being widely seen. At present, the lockdown continues in all twenty districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The lockdown will run until 7 am Monday. People in Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, and other districts of Jammu division and Jammu and other districts of Jammu division are seen following the lockdown themselves. There is complete silence in the markets. Police have laid wires at the ends of the streets leading to the main roads so that the movement of people can be stopped. The shops of essential commodities are opening from 6 am to 10 am at the scheduled time and people are leaving for shopping. Medicines, testing labs, and other medical facilities are available throughout the day.
In view of the ever increasing cases of Corona, people are collaborating to make the lockdown a success. The administration and police are also strictly enforcing it. People are also being fined for violating the lockdown. On Saturday, there was silence in the markets, squares of every district of Jammu and Kashmir. It also saw its impact in the old city of Jammu. People did not feel the scarcity of essential commodities. Open the petrol pump too. Deputy commissioners from all districts took stock of the lockdown. The deputy commissioners appealed to the people to follow the Corona curfew and cooperate in implementing it effectively.
Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib asked to ensure adherence to the guidelines issued at weddings during the curfew. He said that CCTV cameras should be installed in hotels and banquet halls to locate the guests. For weddings, the government has asked to ensure that cards can be displayed for this. The number of guests at weddings is also limited. People themselves have been cooperating for this.
