The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is taking all measures to ensure the availability of corona vaccine for the age group of 18 to 44 in the ongoing war against the Kovid epidemic. In addition to issuing global tenders for the purchase of Corona vaccines, the government has given Rs 20 crore as advance to the drug companies for the purchase of vaccines.
The third phase of corona vaccination has started in Uttar Pradesh on May 1, under which the corona vaccine is to be given to people between 18 and 44 years old. The number of people in the age group of 18 to 44 years in the state is 9.28 crore. For the vaccination of this age group, the government has ordered 5–50 lakh doses of Kovaxin and Kovishield vaccine companies. An amount of Rs 20 crore has been released to the companies in advance. Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh Medical Supply Corporation has also issued a global tender for the purchase of four crore corona vaccines.
To overcome the second wave of corona infection, the state government is going to expand the vaccination campaign in the age group of 18 to 44 years in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that the vaccination program for this age group should be conducted in all the municipal corporations of the state and also in Gautam Budh Nagar from next week. So far, vaccination of 18 crosses is going on in seven districts of the state including Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Bareilly.
So far in Uttar Pradesh, 68,536 people over 18 years of age have been vaccinated with corona vaccine in seven districts. The first dose of Corona vaccine has been applied to 1,06,65,499 people over 45 years of age. Of these, 25,90,456 people have also been given the second dose of vaccine. In this way, a total of 1,32,55,955 doses of vaccines have been applied to people above 45 years of age in the state so far.
Global tender for four crore corona vaccine released: The state government has issued a global tender for four crore vaccines to speed up the introduction of corona vaccine. Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to issue a global tender for the Corona vaccine. This tender has been issued by Uttar Pradesh Medical Supply Corporation. The last date to download the global tender has been declared as May 7 and the last date for filling the tender is May 21. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, orders for 50-50 lakh vaccines have already been given to Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute. For this, Sarmar has already given an advance of 10-10 crores. Both companies have assured vaccine supply soon.
