The famous film director VA Shrikumar Menon has been arrested by the police in a cheating case. Rajendran Pillai, associated with Srivalsam Business Group, had lodged a complaint against Srikumar for the transaction of money from 2006 till now. According to media reports, Rajendran Pillai alleged in his complaint that Sreekumar had taken Rs 7 crore from him for a film, which he never returned. Since no work was done on the film, he decided to complain.
Shreekumar was arrested on 6 May and
the next day he was presented in court. He was also questioned in the police station in this matter. A case has been registered against them under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Reportedly, Sreekumar applied for anticipatory bail, but this was rejected by the court.
Srikumar Menon made his debut with the film 'Odiyan', which was adorned by Mohanlal's performance. The film was released in theaters in 2018. In 2019, Actress Manju Warrier filed a complaint against the film director for trying to discredit her through a social media campaign. On Manju's complaint, Srikumar Menon was arrested and later released on bail. Actress Manju also worked in Srikumar Menon's film 'Odion'
