Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attended a meeting with all 27 EU members, heads of state, or heads of government via video conferencing. The meeting has been held to consider the cooperation of health services associated with the corona epidemic. The invitation was sent to PM Modi as a special invitee by European Council President Charles Mitchell. The meeting of Indo-European Union leaders has been organized by Portugal's Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
Giving more information, Vikas Swaroop, Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, said that the historic and successful India-EU Summit was concluded today. This was an unprecedented occasion where Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi was a special invitee. The meeting provided a platform for the leaders of India and the European Union to discuss three broad areas. In which the first business, technology, and connectivity. The second corona, environment and climate change, and the third included foreign policy, security, and regional issues.
The Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs further stated that in his opening remarks Prime Minister Modi spoke on the justification of India's strong relations not only with the European Union but also with all EU member states.
Let us state that Portugal currently chairs the Council of the European Union. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to visit Portugal this month to attend the India-EU summit meeting, but now a virtual meeting has been organized as Corona's situation worsens.
PM Modi spoke to the Chief Ministers regarding the situation in Corona
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held talks with the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu on the condition of Corona in their states and preparations made to deal with it. For the last few days, the PM has been talking with the Chief Ministers over the telephone to take stock of the epidemic situation in the states. In this regard, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan's office tweeted that Modi expressed satisfaction over the falling infection rate in the state and assured Chauhan of all possible help from the center. Chauhan told the Prime Minister about the various efforts being made by the state to fight the epidemic and thanked him for the support of the Center.
