Many more states have taken steps like complete lockdown and strict restrictions to break the corona transition chain. Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Union Territory of Puducherry have announced the entire lockdown from 10 May ie Monday which will remain in force till 24 May. The lockdown has come into effect from Friday evening in Karnataka and from Saturday morning in Kerala.
In Chennai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin issued a statement saying there was no other option but to prevent infection. On Friday, it was decided to review the situation in Corona with the District Magistrates and implement the lockdown based on the advice of health care experts. All shops and private and government offices will remain closed except for essential goods and services. Government liquor shops, bars, spas, gyms, beauty parlors, salons, cinema halls, clubs, parks, beaches will also remain closed during this period.
Opposition parties AIADMK and PMK have welcomed the entire lockdown. They say that this will help break the corona infection chain. But the BJP, an ally of both these parties, has called the decision of the lockdown a hasty step. State BJP says that it has not taken any measures to help the daily workers and weaker sections. Nothing has been said about how the vaccination campaign will run during the lockdown.
The Rajasthan government has also announced a lockdown in the state from 10 to 24 May. During this time everything will be closed except essential services. Grocery, milk, vegetable, fruit, and other essential goods shops have been allowed to open for some time.
The lockdown has come into effect from Friday evening in Karnataka and Saturday morning in Kerala. Restrictions will continue in Kerala till 16 May. In both these states, the infection is spreading rapidly. Bengaluru has become the first metropolis in the country with more than three lakh active cases. In Goa too, curfew is being imposed for 15 days from Sunday. During this time, along with liquor shops, grocery and milk-vegetable shops will be open from seven in the morning to one in the afternoon.
Four districts in Himachal lockdown since yesterday
The Himachal Pradesh government has also decided to impose lockdown in four districts from Monday in view of the increasing cases of the corona. These districts are Kangra, Una, Solan and Sirmaur. Apart from this, the government will also introduce new restrictions under the Corona curfew in other areas.
Police strict about weekend lockdown in Pune
In Pune too, the police have tightened up on the weekend lockdown. The police have implemented the entire weekend lockdown in the city. Police are behaving harshly on those who leave the road without any reason. Only weekend shops are allowed to open in the weekend lockdown.
Strictness in Meghalaya-Manipur too
Strictness has also started in the northeastern states of Meghalaya and Manipur. Curfew has also been imposed for the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya and Imphal West districts of Manipur from Saturday to May 17. During this time people are allowed to move out of the house for essential services, corona examination and vaccination.
