Concerned over the increasing cases of corona infection, the government has now decided to impose strict covid curfew in the state in the first phase from 6 am Monday to May 18. During this time, fruit-vegetable, meat-fish and milk shops will open from seven to 10 in the morning. In the case of groceries, it has been decided to keep it open till one o'clock on Monday. After this, these shops will open on May 14 from seven to 12 in the morning.
Collectorate, Mandalayukt Office, Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, Directorate of Essential Services, and all other offices except banks will remain closed. The number of personnel in banks will also be kept extremely low. For those coming to Uttarakhand from other states, registration in the smart city portal and a negative report of RTPCR up to 72 hours ago has been made mandatory. Public vehicles will run with 50 percent capacity in inter-state and inter-district transport. Industrial units will operate and their personnel will be allowed to move, but the vehicle will be arranged for them by the management or contractors of the respective units. Following the government's decision, the government also issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Covid curfew in the late evening.
In view of prevention of Corona infection in the state, Covid curfew was first imposed in the most affected districts Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar as well as some sensitive places. Later, in other districts too, Covid curfew was imposed in municipalities, towns and rural markets. Its duration is ending at five o'clock on Monday morning. In spite of all this, the cases of infection did not stop. In view of all this, the government has now decided to strictly implement Covid curfew with all restrictions throughout the state.
According to government spokesperson Subodh Uniyal, it is necessary to break the Corona chain in order to protect the lives of the common people. The situation will be reviewed further on 17 May. He informed that the migrants returning to the villages of the state during Covid curfew will have to remain in isolation essentially for seven days at the quarantine center at the gram panchayat level. They will be sent home only when no symptoms are revealed during this period. The expenditure incurred in the arrangement of the quarantine center will be borne by the grant of state finances and the State Disaster Response Fund under DM, if required.
Now only 20 persons will be allowed to attend the wedding ceremony. Earlier this number was 25. He said that in view of the prevailing circumstances, people can also decide to postpone the wedding ceremony from their level. Now only 20 persons will be allowed to attend the funeral. Passengers arriving by train or plane must show a ticket for local transportation. Only farmers and retailers will be allowed to enter the mandis. All educational institutions in the state will be completely closed. Classes can be conducted only for the final year of MBBS and BDS, nursing courses. Liquor shops and bars will be completely closed in the state.
Apart from banks, IT vendors, gas agencies, medical stores, clinics, pathology labs, research labs have been exempted from curfew. Bus bases, mandis etc. will be regularly sanitized in the civic bodies. Individuals in the age group of 18 to 44 have to show their registration for vaccination. Persons over 45 years of age will be allowed to go for vaccination.
