Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the program on World Environment Day at 11 am today through video conferencing. The event is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The theme of this year's event is Promoting Biofuels for a Better Environment.
During this event, the Prime Minister will release the report of the Expert Committee on the roadmap for ethanol blending in India during 2020-2025. The PM will also launch a pilot project of E100 distribution stations at three locations in Pune.
To celebrate World Environment Day, the Government of India is issuing an E-20 notification directing oil companies to sell 20 percent ethanol blended petrol with effect from April 1, 2023. These efforts will provide a timeline for making blended fuels available across the country. It will also help in increasing the consumption of ethanol in ethanol producing states and adjoining areas before the year 2025.
