The effect of the steps taken to improve the field of school education is now clearly visible. This has come to light from the Performance Grading Index released by the Ministry of Education regarding changes in school education. Most of the states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar have improved their past performance. In this report related to schools, Punjab, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar have topped all the states and union territories. There has been a rapid change in the field of school education.
PGI includes quality of education, infrastructure, library, student-teacher ratio
To study the changes taking place in school education, the Performance Grading Index (PGI) of all the states and union territories is being prepared every year by the Ministry of Education. In this episode, the ministry has released the index for the year 2019-20 on Sunday. Which is the third report related to the performance of schools released by the ministry. Earlier, the PGI report related to 2017-18 was released in 2019. This index is prepared after studying the activities related to school education in all the states on 70 parameters. In which quality of education, infrastructure, library, student-teacher ratio etc. are included.
No state in the first category of performance in school education
In the PGI report for the year 2019-20 related to school education, ten categories of states have been created on the basis of performance in school education. At present, no state has come in its first category.
The second category of the index includes Punjab, Chandigarh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman and Nicobar. Punjab and Andaman and Nicobar have made this place by improving their previous performance by more than 20 percent.
The third category includes Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, Puducherry and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The fourth category includes Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tripura, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh and Daman and Diu.
States like Goa, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Manipur, Sikkim, Telangana and Jammu and Kashmir are in the fifth category.
Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram are in the sixth category.
Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh are included in the seventh category.
Meghalaya is included in the eighth category.
The special thing is that during this period, except Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, all the states and union territories have performed better than the PGI of the last year i.e. 2018-19. Uttar Pradesh has improved by about 20 per cent from its previous performance. At the same time, Bihar has also improved its performance by about ten percent.
