Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement while addressing the country on Monday. The poor people of the country will get a great benefits from this announcement. PM Modi said that the government has decided to expand the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. He told that now this scheme will remain till Diwali. That is, ration card holders can now get 5 kg of free food grains in addition to the quota available on the ration card till November.
The PM said that during the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic, the poor section of the country received free ration for 8 months through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. He said that due to the second wave of the pandemic this year, this scheme was extended for the months of May and June and today it has been decided to extend the scheme till Deepawali.
The PM said, "In this time of epidemic, the government is standing as a partner with every need of the poor. That is, by November, more than 80 crore countrymen will get free food grains in fixed quantity every month."
Prime Minister Modi has also announced free vaccines for people above 18 years of age across the country. He said, "From Monday, June 21, in every state of the country, the Government of India will provide free vaccine to the states for all citizens above the age of 18 years. The Government of India itself will buy 75 percent of the total vaccine production from vaccine manufacturers and give it to the state governments free of cost.
The PM said, "No state government of the country will have to spend anything on the vaccine. Till now crores of people of the country have got the free vaccines. Now people of 18 years of age will also join it. India for all countrymen." The government will provide the vaccine free of cost."
