Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait met Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday. During the meeting at the state secretariat in Kolkata, Tikait spoke to Mamata on the issue of farmers. According to sources, there was a discussion between the farmer leaders and Mamta on the strategy to intensify the ongoing agitation against the agricultural laws of the Center and surround the government. After the meeting, Mamata hit out at the Center and said that for the last seven months, she (government) did not even bother to talk to the farmers. I demand that all three agricultural laws should be withdrawn immediately. He also said that my support to the farmers' movement will continue. She will also talk to the Chief Ministers of other states on the issue of farmers.
Mamata said the agitation should be continued till the three agriculture laws are withdrawn. She also called upon the opposition parties to unite on the issue and fight against the Centre. Tikait, on the other hand, thanked Mamta for her support. He said that Didi has saved Bengal by defeating a big enemy. Now everyone has to unite and save the country from BJP. Praising Mamata, Tikait even said that she has the potential to become the prime minister.
He said- 'Didi is requested to prepare such a model which everyone should follow, you have defeated the big enemy.' In fact, his target was on PM Modi for the massive victory of Trinamool in the Bengal elections. Let us tell you that even during the recently concluded Bengal assembly elections, Tikait had held a meeting in Nandigram in support of Mamta and appealed to the people not to vote for BJP. Had it. Tikait and other farmer leaders have been leading agitations at the borders of Delhi for the past one year against agricultural laws passed by Parliament.
