The number of people who died of Covid-19 released by the Health Department in Bihar was wrong. There is a huge difference in the number of dead in the figures already released by the Health Department and a report on Wednesday. This was acknowledged by Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary, Department in the press conference. In fact, 9,375 people had lost their lives due to Covid in Bihar, but the Health Department had reported 5,424 deaths till June 8, 2021.
The second wave of coronavirus infection in Bihar wreaked havoc. This wave destroyed all the records of the previous year. On the one hand, while the number of new infected reached beyond 15 thousand in a day, the death due to infection also made a new record. In the second wave alone, the corona infection killed more than seven and a half thousand people in the state. Between March 2020 and March 2021, about 1600 people died in the state from Corona. Between March 2021 and June 8, 7,775 people lost their lives. By June 8, 9375 people had lost their lives in the state including the first and second waves.
According to the committee, 9375 deaths till June 8 from Corona:
In a press conference held on Wednesday, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Pratyaya Amrit made public the report of two committees constituted to identify the dead on May 18. He said that the committee submitted its report on June 8. According to the report, 5424 people had died from Corona till June 7. (This also includes 16 hundred deaths from March 2020 to March 2021) But verification at the hospital and district level revealed that not 5424 but 9375 people died from Covid-19 till June 8. The committee confirmed 3951 such people whose data was not with the government.
Government's intention to get timely compensation to the dependents of the dead
The Additional Chief Secretary said that the government is very sensitive and it intends that the dependents of those who died due to the epidemic should get a compensation of Rs. For this reason the committee was also formed. Compensation will be given to the dependents of those whose death has been confirmed from Corona. The process for this has also been started. So far, amount has been released for the compensation of 3737 people. On Tuesday itself, the state cabinet has also approved an amount of Rs 300 crore to give compensation to the dependents of the corona victims.
