In Chhattisgarh, the Congress government has intensified the exercise of fulfilling its election promise of giving unemployment allowance. For this, information has been sought from all the districts for the youth of the age group of 18 to 40 years. It has also been asked to give information regarding the employment provided through various mediums in the district. This data is being collected by the Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Department with the help of various departments of the state. The Urban Administration Department has also directed the heads of all the urban bodies of the state to provide information by sending letters. Joint Director of the department BP Kashi said that the reports received from the bodies would be handed over to the concerned department.
Officials said that the districts have been asked to give information about the number of unemployed youths who have been engaged in various departmental, community and social works since January 2019. Along with this, information has also been sought from such people, who are being provided an honorarium, remuneration, incentive amount or financial assistance for many activities in government departments, institutions, corporations, and establishments.
The Congress in its election manifesto has promised an allowance of Rs 2,500 per month to the unemployed. Inter-departmental committee under the chairmanship of Higher Education Minister To give unemployment allowance, the government has constituted a 15-member inter-departmental committee under the chairmanship of Udha Education Minister Umesh Patel about two years ago. In this, Panchayat Minister TS Singhdev, Labor Minister Shiv Dahriya along with Secretary of Panchayat, Agriculture, Forest and Finance Department have been made members. Along with them Principal Secretary Commerce Industry, Labour, Skill Development, Secretary Sports, Youth Welfare, GAD, Urban Administration and Udha Education have also been kept.
More than four lakh unemployed decreased in 22 months
According to government data, the number of unemployed registered in the state in January 2019 was about 23 lakh, which decreased to 18 lakh 90 thousand in November 2020. That is, in 22 months, the number of unemployed has decreased by more than four lakh 13 thousand.
