JNU administration has issued show-cause notices to students including student union president Aishe Ghosh and many other students in connection with the protest in the year 2018. JNU has called the protest undisciplined and misconduct. Ayeshi Ghosh was asked to reply by June 21. The JNU administration said that the demonstrations were held during the meeting of the Board of Studies of the School of Social Science on December 5, 2018. The meeting was also disrupted by this. It has been said in the notice that such activities are dangerous and against the rules of the university. Referring to the constitution of the university, the protest has been described as undisciplined. It was asked why disciplinary action should not be taken.
Ayeshi Ghosh has been directed to respond to the show-cause notice by 5 pm on June 21. It is mentioned in the notice that in case of non-compliance, it will be presumed that Aishe Ghosh has nothing to say in her defense. In such a situation, the university administration will take necessary action.
On the question of sending the notice after a long gap of three years, the proctor of the university, Prof Rajnish Kumar Mishra said that the students had blocked the university for a long time on the issue of fee hike. During this, many mistakes were also made. From the year 2020, the process of investigation was interrupted due to cases of corona infection. Which has now been started, the notice has been sent.
While replying to the notice, Aishe Ghosh wrote a Facebook post. In which it was said that administrative work in JNU is disrupted during the Corona period. Scholarships are not being given. Hostel is not being allotted to first year students. The students were not vaccinated. But the Office of the Chief Proctor is working relentlessly to punish the students.
