Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has given another gift to its passengers. DMRC on Tuesday launched a multi-modal integration facility (MULTI-MODEL INTEGRATION FACILITY) with the country's first FASTag/UPI-based cashless parking at Kashmiri Gate Metro station. DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh launched this facility on Tuesday. This exclusively cashless parking facility located at Gate No. 6 of Kashmiri Gate Metro Station will cater to 55 four-wheelers and 174 two-wheelers. Under this facility, payment can be made at the entry/exit of parking of four-wheelers through FASTag. This will also save people time. At the same time, only drivers with FASTag will be able to take advantage of this facility. At the same time, entry of two-wheelers will be possible only by swiping the smart card of DMRC.
This facility can be started at other metro stations
According to Delhi Metro officials, this is a pilot project. In the coming time, this facility will also be made available at other stations of Kho Kho Delhi Metro. The biggest benefit of this will be for the consumers, whose time will be saved. Parking can also be paid through UPI. Along with this, the parking fees can also be paid through DMRC/NCMC cards. DMRC is planning to install a similar system at more of its parking spots in Delhi-NCR in the times to come. Dedicated Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) lanes for autos, taxis and e-rickshaws were also inaugurated at Gate No. 6 and 8 of Kashmiri Gate station to provide convenience to the people. All these lanes will enable the smooth movement of vehicles and enhance last-mile connectivity at the station.
Anuj Dayal, Executive Director, Corporate Communications, said that these facilities will provide a major relief to commuters traveling to and from Kashmiri Gate station, which is linked to a major ISBT and several offices in the vicinity of the station. Kashmiri Gate station is DMRC's only triple-interchange station and one of the busiest stations in the network.
DMRC Managing Director said that the cashless parking project is a big step as part of the government's 'Digital India' initiative. At present, we have taken it as a pilot project. After seeing the success we will plan similar arrangement under more parking facilities at our stations.
