New Delhi. Ajay Bhatt, a strong Brahmin leader of Uttarakhand BJP, has got a place in the Modi cabinet. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he became the MP of Nainital with record votes. He had broken many myths associated with him. It has been said about Ajay Bhatt that when he is elected as an MLA, then the party government is not formed in the state.
Such has been the political history of Ajay Bhatt
2017: Ajay Bhatt lost the assembly elections from Ranikhet seat of Almora. Had he won, he might have become a minister. Before the election, his name was also in the race of CM.
2012: Ajay Bhatt won the assembly elections from Ranikhet but BJP could not form the government in the state due to the difference of one seat. BJP got 31 seats while Congress got 32 seats. Ajay Bhatt became the Leader of the Opposition in the House.
2007:In this assembly election, Ajay Bhatt lost the election to Karan Mahara of Congress by just 205 votes. Ajay Bhatt could not get the pride of being a ruling party MLA again.
2002: This was the first assembly election after the formation of a separate Uttarakhand state. Ajay Bhatt won Ranikhet seat with great pride. He had reached the first assembly.
1996: This was Ajay Bhatt's first assembly election. He registered a big victory from Ranikhet. Unfortunately, nobody got majority in the undivided UP assembly. Eventually President's rule was imposed. Ajay Bhatt recalls that for 6 months the swearing-in of the MLAs could not take place. BJP and BSP formed the government together, but the Chief Minister and governments kept changing for the whole five years. The 1996 assembly is the only one in Ajay Bhatt's political career when he was able to call himself a ruling party MLA.
Luck did not work even in the municipal elections,
this coincidence with Ajay Bhatt is even older. Very few people know that Ajay Bhatt had contested the first election in 1989 from Dwarahat seat as Municipality President. Even at that time fate had betrayed him. The match between Ajay Bhatt and Pyare Lal Shah was tied for the post of president. It was decided by lottery in which Ajay Bhatt lost.
Ajay Bhatt's early life has also been full of struggles. When his studies were interrupted due to the passing of his father at a young age, he completed his studies under the umbrella of his elder brother and continued to share his hand. After doing LLB from Kumaun University Nainital, Ajay Bhatt's troubles started decreasing. After completing law studies, Ajay Bhatt went to Almora and started practicing law in the court. He practiced law from 1984 to 1996. In the meantime, he met Pushpa Bhatt, who herself was a lawyer. The marriage was like an arranged marriage, but before marriage, they knew each other very well. Ajay Bhatt completely entered politics in 1996. In 1996, for the first time in undivided UP, he was elected MLA from Ranikhet on BJP ticket. From then till today, he continued to climb the ladder of success in politics.
