Vehicle manufacturer Citroen India has informed on Wednesday that it has started home delivery of its first model C5 Aircross SUV in the Indian market. Let us tell you that the company has also started online booking for the model for this model, after which the work is being done to deliver the SUV to the customers directly from its production plant located in Tiruvallur (near Chennai). This is the first time in the country that a company is doing home delivery of cars.
Citroen currently has showrooms in ten cities across the country, including Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Kochi and Gurugram. For customers outside these cities, it has introduced 100% direct online shopping for its flagship model. The company has so far launched the home delivery model at 50 locations across the country.
Citroen Brand Head (India) Saurabh Vats told PTI, "The process of home delivery has now started. We have delivered two vehicles in Chandigarh and Surat and others are being supplied." He added that Citroen is all about comfort and there is no doubt that the current circumstances have further increased the need for a comfortable experience for the customer.
Vats said the initiatives include registration before purchase, online trading, finance, insurance, maintenance packages, extended warranties and home delivery.
The vehicle manufacturer has tied up with various partners for door-step delivery of the vehicle and for getting the car registered at the nearest Regional Transport Office.
Vats said the online shopping initiative is not a part of any competition but is aimed at increasing the sales of the company. Joel Verani, Vice President – S&M Efficiency, Stellantis India, said, “Citroen has been the first OEM in India to introduce and deliver the concept of car home delivery directly from the factory. Digitization is a key focus area not only for the brand but also for the Stelantis Group as we believe this 100 percent direct buy online model will see rapid adoption in India in the future." In addition, the automaker has launched several initiatives Such as Service on Wheels and All India Roadside Assistance Service, among others.
When asked about the response for the C5 Aircross in the country so far, Vats said that over 1,000 bookings have been received and 325 units have already been delivered to the customers. Citroen launched the SUV in April this year with prices starting from Rs 29.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The model is powered by a 2-litre diesel powertrain, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Vats said the company plans to further expand its sales infrastructure in the country as it looks to drive in a new model in the country next year, which will be geared more towards generating volumes for the automaker. Citroen has already said that it plans to introduce four models in India over the next four years, starting in 2021.
