The search operation carried out by the security forces in the Redwani area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir turned into an encounter. During the late-night search operation on the basis of information about the hiding of terrorists in the area, the terrorists hiding in the Redwani area started firing on seeing the security forces coming near them. At present, the soldiers are standing in their positions and the process of firing is going on from both sides.
Earlier, on Thursday, two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed by security forces in the Jodar area of Kulgam. These terrorists hiding in an area near the Srinagar highway were trying to carry out a major attack. Police sources said that on the basis of information about the sighting of two to three terrorists in Kulgam, the SOG, Army, and CRPF personnel started this search operation late in the night. During this, there was a brief encounter between the security forces and the terrorists during the night itself, but before that the terrorists, who were besieging the terrorists, escaped by taking advantage of the darkness.
At the same time, the security forces also continued their operation in search of terrorists. The terrorists were once again surrounded in the Redwani area of district Kulgam. The security forces asked the terrorists to surrender but they started firing on the security forces. Intermittent firing is still going on from both the sides.
Let us tell you that this is the third consecutive encounter within the last three days and during this time the security forces killed five terrorists including Mehrajuddin Halwai, the top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen in the Kashmir Valley.
