After the strictness of the Uttarakhand Tourism Police, only a limited number of tourists could reach Mussoorie, Nainital and Lansdowne on Sunday. Tourists who came without a hotel booking, negative reports of RTPCR, and without registration were returned from the border itself. On the other hand, due to checking on the borders of the state, a jam-like situation remained throughout the day. After all the documents were found in the investigation, only 1950 vehicles were allowed to go to Mussoorie. These included 11 four-wheelers and 850 two-wheelers.
150 vehicles were returned from Dehradun's entry point Asharodi check post, 2050 from Kuthalgate, 770 from Kimani, 550 from Sahasradhara, and 430 from Guchupani. This limited the crowd in Mussoorie. However, the traffic jam still persisted. Due to this, the general public had to face problems along with the tourists.
There was a lot of activity in Nainital
A large number of tourists came to visit Nainital on Sunday. However, during the investigation at the city's entry points Russian Bypass and Narayannagar, tourists who came without hotel booking and Kovid check were not given entry into the city. More than one thousand vehicles were parked in Rusi and Narayan Nagar area itself. Here the tourists also enjoyed sailing amidst light fog along with strolling on the Mall Road.
crowd of returning tourists
Tourists who came to visit different tourist places of Uttarakhand on weekends started going back from Sunday evening. In such a situation, there was a lot of congestion on the borders. After a long time, due to exemption from the Covid curfew, tourists started visiting tourist places from Friday evening itself. In this way all the hotels were booked. A lot of crowd was seen at all the tourist places on Friday, but on Saturday after the strictness of the police, there was a slight decrease in the crowd.
SSP Dr. Yogendra Singh Rawat said that after the strictness of the police, the overcrowding at tourist places was limited. Very few vehicles reached tourist places as compared to last week. Intensive checking was done in Mussoorie, Sahasradhara and Guchupani. In such a situation, only those tourists could reach, who had complete documents. After strictness, a large number of people are also coming with documents.
