Chandigarh. A case has been registered against 51-year-old Simarjit Singh Bains, the MLA of Ludhiana's Atma Nagar and Lok Insaaf Party in Punjab, for raping a 45-year-old woman in Ludhiana on Monday. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Ludhiana Harsimranjit Singh directed the police to register a case against Lok Insaaf Party chief Atma Nagar constituency MLA Simarjit Singh Bains for rape on a complaint by a 45-year-old woman. had ordered. The woman had filed a petition in the court against MLA Simranjit Bains and some of his associates for not registering a case with the police.
The court said in a 14-page order that serious allegations have been made against the MLA and his associates. The police can investigate this well. The court cannot ask the woman to collect the evidence herself. On the other hand, the MLA has challenged this FIR in the High Court and demanded quashing. But even from the High Court, he has not got any relief in this matter. The court, while hearing Bains' case on Monday, issued a notice to the government and sought a reply by July 15.
On November 16, 2020, the woman had given an application to the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, to register an FIR against Bains, Kamaljit Singh, Baljinder Kaur, Jasbir Kaur, Sukhchain Singh, Paramjit Singh and Gogi Sharma. The woman had alleged that she had come in contact with the MLA in a property dispute, but she got stuck. She claimed that she received repeated phone calls and WhatsApp messages demanding physical relations with her and was repeatedly raped by Bains.
The Shiromani Akali Dal activists also staged a protest outside the Ludhiana Police Commissioner's office on Monday, demanding the arrest of Bains. On the other hand, after the registration of the FIR, the problems of Bains have increased. His opposition parties have started surrounding him on this issue. He may have to bear the loss in the upcoming 2020 Legislative Assembly elections.
