A strange case has come to the fore in Ghaziabad, UP, adjacent to Delhi. Here a class 10th student stole the INSAS rifle from the Karan Gate police post of Sahibabad police station. The police have arrested him, revealing the whole matter. The rifle has been recovered from his possession. During interrogation, he told that he had seen many videos of people firing on the internet media. When he also felt like firing, he stole the police rifle from the outpost. The student is a minor, so the police will send him to a correctional home.
Sub-Inspector Mohit Kumar has been posted as in-charge at the outpost since June 14. He told that the INSAS rifle allotted for the post was kept in a safe room. The policemen posted on PC-32 (police vehicle) used it instead of carrying the rifle from the police station as per their convenience. When the duty was over, he kept them in the room. When that rifle was not seen in the room, the policemen were interrogated and searched. No information was found. He filed a complaint about the theft of the rifle in the police station. On his complaint, a report was registered against unknown thieves. Superintendent of Police, Nagar II, Ghaziabad, Gyanendra Singh said that a class 10 student living in Shaheed Nagar had stolen the rifle from the outpost. He has been captured.
This incident has exposed the negligence of the police. People are saying that when a 10th class student can steal a police rifle from the outpost, criminals can carry out any incident. When the police are not able to protect their weapons, how will they protect the public?
If the stolen INSAS rifle of the police had reached the wrong hands, it could have been misused a lot. Fortunately, the police caught the accused student and recovered the rifle.
