Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has played many strong characters in her career of 13 years. Deepika talks about her turning point as the film completes 9 years of its release. Talking about the film, Deepika said, “I have always believed that when you put a small part of yourself in each of your characters, you always carry a part of that character with you. Veronica will always be one of the most special characters I have ever played. Which has changed a lot for me professionally and impacted me personally.
When asked if Veronica was a turning point in her Bollywood career, Deepika said, "Yes. If a character resonates with millions, then obviously there was something in it that the audience sympathized with. Recalling how she prepared for the role, Deepika said, "When I was given the script to read, I assumed it was for Meera's character (played by Penty). Imtiaz Ali called me one day and asked me to re-read Veronica's script. After giving it some thought after a few days, I understood what he meant. While butterflies were flying in my stomach, I knew I was ready for it'.The actress further says, 'Homi Adajania gave me wings to fly and made me believe that I can do nothing wrong. With that belief, we were able to create a character who will live on in our hearts forever.
