Despite the cases of cyber fraud coming to the fore, people are not ready to be aware. Without investigating, they are handing over their hard-earned money to cyber thugs. One such case came up in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Here a woman lost Rs 66.39 lakh for wanting to give a dog puppy to her daughter on her birthday. The woman had ordered a dog puppy online with the help of Just Dial, but whose phone number she found as the person providing the dog on Just Dial turned out to be a cyber swindler.
According to information received from Cyber Crime Police Station, a woman living in Mothrowala told that her daughter's birthday was on June 22. The daughter asked for a dog of Golden Retriever breed from Assam on her birthday. For this, the woman took the help of the local search engine Just Dial. Through this, he talked to a person on the phone. He told the price of a dog of Golden Retriever breed to 15 thousand rupees. For online delivery, he asked for five thousand rupees in advance and asked to pay the remaining 10 thousand rupees after delivery. On this, the woman sent five thousand rupees online to her given bank account.
After this, the person called again and asked for one lakh rupees from the woman in her account in the name of keeping the dog's child quarantined and license. On June 26, he called again and asked for one lakh rupees as shipping charges for sending the puppy. He promised to return this amount later. After this, he deposited Rs 66 lakh 39 thousand 600 in his account from the woman till July 2 on the pretext of spending on security charges, shipping tax, and other items. Even after this, he was asking for money, but on realizing the fraud, the woman complained to the cyber police station.
