BJP MLA from Nandigram and Leader of Opposition in Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari is preparing to approach the court against the appointment of Mukul Roy, who returned to the Trinamool Congress, as the chairman of the Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
This has been received from the sources of the BJP Legislature Party. The BJP has already decided to move the court over Mukul's defection. Suvendu himself had made it public. Now they can sue in the court against making Mukul the chairman of the PAC.
According to sources, Suvendu wants to register two cases this week. They are discussing the issue in detail with constitutional experts before registering the case. Apart from this, he has also discussed this with many BJP MLAs. He does not want to say anything publicly about the PAC, although a source close to him said on Tuesday that he wants to take all possible steps to sack Suvendu Mukul from the assembly and remove him from the post of PAC chairman.
According to sources, necessary documents related to all the issues are being prepared before going to court. According to the Leader of Opposition, various rules regarding the appointment of the PAC chairman have not been followed. The rule of proportional representation of MLAs has not been considered in Mukul's appointment. Firstly it has been argued that Mukul is a BJP MLA, while his name was not proposed by the BJP Parliamentary Party as a member of the committee.
Second, none of those who proposed and supported Mukul's name are BJP MLAs. Suvendu is taking steps in this regard in consultation with the central leadership of the BJP. He has also discussed this matter with some eminent advocates of Delhi.
