A horrific boat accident has occurred on the Brahmaputra in Assam. Here two boats full of passengers collided. Many of the people were reported missing after the accident. The incident has been reported from Neemtighat within the Jorhat district. It is being told that around 100 passengers were on board both the boats. One boat was going from Majuli to Nimtighat where the other was getting into the opposite direction. Search operations have been started for the missing people aboard the boat. These include women and children as well. On the opposite hand, Jorhat Additional DC Damodar Burman said that about 50 people were on board the boat within the accident in Assam's Brahmaputra, out of which 40 people have been rescued. Efforts to rescue others are on.

State CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed grief over the boat accident and directed Majuli and Jorhat district administrations to hold out rescue operations with the assistance of NDRF and SDRF. He has asked his minister Bimal Bora to succeed in Majuli soon and size up of things. CM has instructed his Principal Secretary Sameer Sinha to stay an eye fixed on the developments continuously. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will reach Majuli tomorrow.
