There is good news for the millions of professionals who have been waiting to get a job-linked green card in the US for years.According to the proposal prepared by a committee of the US Parliament, these people will be able to get a green card by paying some additional fee.Thousands of Indians are among those waiting to get a green card.
Green cards allow foreigners living in the US to permanently reside with certain conditions. The new initiative will be a particularly big help in providing green cards to thousands of Indian IT professionals working in the US.The former US government led by Donald Trump had imposed strict conditions for granting green cards, while Democratic Party President Joe Biden, in his election campaign, assured that he would ease the system of giving green cards.
This system will be applicable till 2031
According to the proposal of the Judicial Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, the green card can be obtained two years in advance by paying an additional fee of five thousand dollars. This system will be applicable for skilled working people.According to Forbes magazine, foreigners coming to the US to invest in America by paying a fee of 50 thousand dollars will be able to get a green card. This arrangement will remain in force till 2031.There will be an additional $2,500 fee for obtaining a green card for family reasons.
There is no point in changing the immigration fundamentals in the proposal. There is also no proposal to increase the number of H-1B visas annually. To become law, this proposal will need the approval of the House of Representatives and the Senate, after which it will be signed by the President.
H-B visa will remain the same as before
At the same time, nothing has been said about the H-B visa in the proposal. In such a situation, it is believed that the H-B quota will remain as before, no changes will be made in it.At present, this quota is 65 thousand.Apart from this, 20 thousand H-1B visas are given to those people who want to pursue higher education from America. It is part of the America Works campaign from the US Chamber of Commerce.
