Mumbai: Due to the weakness of global markets, the first trading day of the week today closed with a fall on Monday. The Sensex closed at 58490.93 down by 524.96 points. On the other hand, Nifty closed at 17,396.90 with a fall of 188.25 points.
In today's trade, 23 out of 30 stocks of Sensex were under pressure, while 41 out of 50 stocks of Nifty saw a fall. In which Tata Steel's share fell by 9.53% and IndusInd Bank's share was down by 3.50%.On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever's stock saw a rise of 2.96%.
Metal and auto stocks seem to be putting pressure on the market. The metal index on NSE is trading with a weakness of 5%.On the other hand, there is a weakness of 1% in the auto index.
2,331 shares closed in the red mark;3,507 shares were traded on the BSE. In which 1,041 shares were seen trading with an increase and 2,331 shares were seen trading in the red mark. With this, the total market cap of companies listed on BSE has crossed Rs 255 lakh crore.
On BSE, 298 shares had a lower circuit. During trading on the BSE, 228 shares were seen trading at a 52-week high and 25 shares at a 52-week low. Apart from this, while 325 shares have an upper circuit, 298 shares have a lower circuit. Earlier on Friday, the Sensex fell 125 points at 59,015 and the Nifty fell 44 points to close at 17,585.
