Included in the popular schemes of the government
This mid-day meal scheme was started in the year 1995 to provide mid-day meals to school children.Since then this scheme is continuously operated and is one of the popular schemes of the government. The main reason that is being told behind this whole change, in the present name and form of the scheme, the focus was only on food, while the focus of the government is now on providing nutritious food to the school children, which is becoming clear from the new scheme.
emphasis on transparency
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday shared the changes made in the scheme after the CCEA's approval and said that it emphasizes on transparency. Now the money for cooking cost etc. will be sent directly to the schools through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).Along with this, every district will also be given an exemption in providing nutritious food that it can include locally suitable nutritional food grains or coarse grains in the diet of school children.
Pre-primary children will also be involved
At the same time, the children of pre-primary will also be included in the purview of PM nutrition. That is, they too will now get nutritious food in schools.Pre-primary has been included in school education only after the new National Education Policy came. There is a proposal to open Bal Vatika in schools for this.Responding to a question, Pradhan said that in the next two to three years, Bal Vatikas will be opened in all schools.
Decision to promote date food campaign
In the nutrition campaign, the government has also decided to fast forward the initiative of date food to increase mutual bonding among school children. In this, school children will have to bring at least one more tiffin of food from home for at least one day in a month or on special occasions which they will feed to the children by going to another nearby school.Along with this, you will also eat your tiffin with him.
Emphasis on nutrition garden campaign
This scheme has been started in CBSE schools. Also, it is voluntary.Children who wish to participate can participate in this campaign. In the new scheme, emphasis has also been given to give impetus to the campaign of Nutrition Garden started in schools, in which fresh vegetables, etc. are grown.
