The results of the by-elections held on September 30 in West Bengal and Odisha will be announced today.

Kolkata.The results of the polling for Bhawanipur in Kolkata and Shamsherganj and Jangipur assembly seats in Murshidabad will be declared today [Sunday].Counting of votes began on Sunday morning amid tight security.Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee is the candidate from Bhawanipur seat.His rivals are Priyanka Tibdewal from BJP and Shrijib Biswas from CPI(M).Polling for these three seats was held on September 30.

Counting of votes for Bhawanipur seat is going on at Shekhawat Memorial Girls' School, Lord Sinha Road, Kolkata.

At present, the counting of votes cast through ballot is going on.

Counting is underway for Bhawanipur in Kolkata and Jangipur and Shamsherganj assembly seats in Murshidabad.

Counting of votes will be held in 21 rounds in Bhawanipur, 26 rounds in Jangipur and 24 rounds in Shamsherganj.

A three-tier security arrangement has been made in all the counting centers.

There are only Central Central Force personnel inside the counting centers while the police is guarded outside.

Both the central force and the police have been deployed at the middle level.

State Transport Minister and senior Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would win the Bhawanipur seat by a huge margin of 50-60 thousand votes.

It is to be known that counting of votes has started for Bhawanipur in Kolkata and Jangipur and Shamsherganj assembly seats in Murshidabad.The results of the by-elections held on September 30 in West Bengal and Odisha will be announced today.There is a direct fight between TMC and BJP in 3 assemblies including Bhawanipur, the high profile seat of West Bengal.Mamta Banerjee herself is in the fray from Bhawanipur.If Mamata wins the election, she will continue as the chief minister.If there is any major upheaval in Bhawanipur, Mamta will have to give up the chief minister's chair.

According to information received from Election Commission sources, the counting of votes will start from 8 am and trends will start coming after an hour.Significantly, to remain on the post of Chief Minister, it is necessary for Mamata Banerjee to win this election.Trinamool leader and state transport minister Firhad Hakim has already claimed victory over Mamata Banerjee by over 50,000 votes.
