New Delhi.A combined structure of flyover and metro line will be prepared near Surghat on the Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor of Phase IV.Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Public Works Department (PWD) will jointly prepare this joint structure for the first time.Under this, a flyover and a parallel metro corridor will be constructed on the same elevated structure.Due to this, along with vehicles, the metro will also be seen running on the flyover in Delhi. The special thing is that DMRC will also construct an underpass near this corridor. Therefore, this will be the first corridor of its kind in Delhi where the road-over flyover and the metro corridor will be parallel to each other. At the same time, the underpass will also pass under the road.
DMRC says that this corridor and underpass will be built on Ring Road near Signature Bridge and DND.There was already a plan of the Public Works Department to build a flyover there.Meanwhile, the construction of the Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor of the Metro has started. But due to lack of space near Surghat, it was difficult to get a separate land for the metro corridor. Therefore, DMRC and Public Works Department together prepared a plan to prepare a joint structure. This combined corridor will be 450 meters long.
DMRC will construct 21 portals of 26 meters width for this corridor, whose pillars will be about 10 meters in height.DMRC has started its construction.DMRC will construct the elevated Metro corridor on the 10.5 meters wide part of this structure. The Public Works Department will later get the flyover constructed on 10 meters parallel to it.This flyover will be built along with the existing flyover near Surghat at present.
The existing flyover is operational from Wazirabad to Interstate Bus Stand towards Kashmere Gate.DMRC says that an underpass will be built for better convenience of movement, which will pass between the pillars of the corridor.Vehicles moving from Outer Ring Road towards Signature Bridge will be able to use this underpass. The length of the Maujpur-Majlis Park corridor will be 12.098 km.Surghat metro station is also proposed on this corridor. This joint structure will be prepared at this place itself. Its construction is targeted to be completed in the year 2023.
This corridor is an extension project of the Pink Line (Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar). On completion of its construction, the Ring Metro Corridor of the Pink Line will be ready. Then this corridor, about 70 km long, will be the first ring corridor of the country. In Phase IV, DMRC is also constructing a double-decker corridor on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor.Where a metro corridor is being constructed over the flyover.
