Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan (Happy Birthday Zaheer Khan) turned 43 today. Zaheer was born on 7 October 1978 in a middle-class family in the town of Shrirampur, Maharashtra. Coming from a small town in Maharashtra, he became one of the most successful bowlers in India.
Zaheer's father was a photographer and his mother was a teacher. Zaheer Khan was very good in studies and had taken admission in Mechanical Engineer degree course but after the advice of coach Sudhir Nayak, he left his studies and focused on cricket. Zaheer came to Mumbai at the age of 17 and performed brilliantly in all the tournaments held at the National Cricket Club. This left-arm fast bowler made it to the Mumbai Under 19 team and after that, he went to the MRF Pace Academy located in Chennai to shine further.
Zaheer performed brilliantly in the World Cup.2003 and 2011 were great for him. Team India was the runner-up in 2003 and in 2011 the Indian team captured the world title. Zaheer took a total of 44 wickets in World Cup history. He was ranked fifth among the highest wicket-takers in the World Cup and at the forefront of Indians. Zaheer took 18 wickets in 2003 and 21 in 2011.
Zaheer has taken 610 international wickets. Zaheer has taken 311 wickets in Tests, 282 in ODIs, and 17 wickets in T20Is. Zaheer has 652 wickets to his name in first-class matches. He has 357 wickets to his name in his List-A career and 119 wickets in domestic T20 matches.
In Test cricket, Zaheer Khan is at the 5th position in the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets from India. Only Anil Kumble (619), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417), and R Ashwin (413) are ahead of him. If we talk about fast bowlers from India, then Zaheer Khan comes at number two. Only great all-rounder Kapil Dev is ahead of Zaheer, who has taken 311 Test wickets, who has taken 434 wickets.
When Zaheer Khan announced the engagement in 2017, that too was no less than any swing bowling. Zaheer married Bollywood actress Sagarika Ghatge, who is a Hindu. Zaheer did not fall into the bondage of religion and lived love.
