After the people of Hindu and Sikh communities were targeted in Kashmir, the problem of the valley is once again in the headlines. In such a situation, can we do anything from China's policy towards Uighur Muslims
Kashmiri Pandits Killing In Kashmir: There is an atmosphere of panic once again after the people of Hindu and Sikh communities were targeted in Kashmir (why Kashmiri pandits left Kashmir). People are remembering the situation of about three decades ago when terrorists targeted minority Hindus in Kashmir and due to this about 80,000 Hindu families had to leave the Valley. Violence and terrorism in Kashmir since then remain a matter of concern for the Indian government. So far there is no effective solution to this problem (Solution of Kashmir problem).
In such a situation, the discussion of a Chinese formula abounds. Actually, China was also facing the same problem as Kashmir in one of its provinces. For this, a very strict step was taken from them. However, his formula was also widely criticized at the international level. But from this formula, one can learn not completely but to a great extent. Let us try to know what was that formula of China and how effective it is in the case of Kashmir?
The Kashmir-like problem in ChinaActually, Xinjiang from China's province. It is a Uighur Muslim majority area. But like the Jammu and Kashmir province of India, there was also the problem of separatism. There were also many incidents of violence that took place. After this, China took a very tough stand and completely established control over the situation. Although, in this work, he was accused of many human rights violations, in front of the power of China, the whole world kept silent in a way.
After the 1.5 million people held in the camp, violence in Xinjiang and anti-China sentiments intensified after the communist government adopted a very tough strategy from year 2014. Under this, China worked on many levels. First of all, he made the high-tech-based surveillance system very tight in the area. After this, the minority Uighur Muslims were kept in prison camps for re-education and to correct their political thinking. The number of such people kept in captive camps is said to be around 15 lakh. The current President of China, Xi Jinping, was highly praised for ending the tendency of separatism among Uighur Muslims. However, Western countries termed this move of Jinping as a genocide.
Geographical importance of Xinjiang like KashmirJust as the geographical importance of Jammu and Kashmir for India is similar to Xinjiang for China. From this region, China has direct connectivity to the markets of Central Asia, West Asia, and Europe. This area is said to be the heart of China's famous Belt and Road Initiative. Not only this, but the disputed China-Pakistan Corridor also starts from this area.
Change in DemographicsLike Kashmir, this region of China has been a Muslim-majority area. About 68 percent of the total population of Jammu and Kashmir are Muslims and 28 percent are Hindus. It is divided into two divisions in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is a completely Muslim majority area, while the Hindu population is in majority in Jammu.
China tried to change the demographics of Xinjiang as part of the strategy. According to the report, in 1945, Chinese natives called Han in Xinjiang accounted for only six percent. However, in 2010, the share of Han in the total population had reached 40 percent. In fact, China had understood the problem of this area long ago and it had understood the need to change the demographics there in order to strengthen its hold on the area.
Criticism of China, By the way, this strategy of China is also criticized. The main reason for this is that the dominance of the Han people in this area is very strong. According to a report, 65 percent of the region's high government jobs are Han people, while 81 percent of the native Uighur Muslim population is engaged in agriculture-related work.
It is also said in some reports that due to the change in demographics and economic exploitation of the native population, there was a tendency towards separatism. But crushing this alienation trend, the current President of China, Xi Jinping, took the most aggressive stand. Before him, the presidents kept emphasizing the development of Xinjiang so that by eliminating inequality there, the native population could be connected to the mainstream of China.
But in the year 2014, Xi Jinping made a major change in China's policy towards Xinjiang. They took steps from stopping the population growth of the native population to destroying their cultural identity. Heavy fines were imposed on Uighur Muslims for having more than two children. Women were compelled to have an abortion at any time during pregnancy. Due to these measures, the population growth rate of Uighur Muslims decreased by 84 percent. The Chinese government has reportedly spent billions of dollars on these campaigns.
These steps of China were called internationally powerful in Xinjiang to build1200 camps. China built more than 1200 camps in this area which were named Re-education Camps. More than 1.5 million Uighur Muslims were kept in these camps. According to a leaked report, those Muslim men who used to have long beards were kept here. Women wearing burqa were also kept here. He was taught the lessons of loyalty to China. He was taught Mandarin. They were forced to condemn Islamic culture.
