Punjab: Wife used to be busy on social media, burnt herself alive when husband beat her

The family of the deceased has accused Kavita's in-laws of murder. Before dying, Kavita had said in a statement to the police that she had a conversation with a boy, over which her husband had beaten her up.

Chandigarh. In Patiala in Punjab, a woman was beaten up by her husband for being too busy on social media, then the woman set herself on fire by pouring oil. After the incident, the woman was taken to Rajindra Hospital, from where she was referred to PGI Chandigarh, but she died during treatment there. Before dying, this woman has filed a case of abetment to suicide against her husband. This incident happened on 3 October. The woman was referred to PGI Chandigarh on October 4 for treatment, where she died on October 11. Police are investigating the allegations and counter-allegations.

The deceased has been identified as Kavita. On the basis of the statements of Kavita, the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against her husband Jatinder Sharma. The family of the deceased has accused Kavita's in-laws of murder.

Before dying, Kavita had said in a statement to the police that she had a conversation with a boy, over which her husband had beaten her up. After this, after bringing this matter to the police, the husband had apologized and Panchayati Rajinama took place. But Kavita's husband used to beat her every day, due to which she took this step.

However, the father-in-law of the deceased, Vijay Sharma, says that 4 months ago, his nephew had seen objectionable posts on his wife's phone with her young friends.After which there was trouble in the house. On this, Manoj, the brother of the deceased Kavita, told that her husband Jatinder is behind the dirty allegations being leveled against Kavita.Since he snatched the phone from Kavita 5 months back.
