Covaxin may get WHO approval in next 24 hours, documents are being reviewed

WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris told reporters that the Technical Advisory Group is reviewing the data on the Kovid-19 vaccine manufactured in India. If all goes well and if the Technical Advisory Group is satisfied, Covaccine can be approved for emergency use within the next 24 hours.

The Technical Advisory Group of the World Health Organization (WHO) today reviewed the documents on the vaccine.Data review is still in progress.According to the news agency Reuters, this Indian vaccine can be approved for emergency use in the next 24 hours.

India-made Covaxin, covid 19 vaccine has been developed by Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company Bharat Biotech.Bharat Biotech had submitted an expression of interest (EOI) for emergency use approval by April 19, but the WHO said it would need more documents to approve the vaccine.

The Indian government has approved the emergency use of Covaxin in its country, but due to the lack of recognition from the WHO, citizens who have got the vaccine cannot go abroad for now.
