In December last year, a Shanghai court sentenced Zhan to charges of quarreling and causing trouble. This is a charge that is commonly used in political matters.

A lawyer who spoke to the journalist's family a few days ago said that Zhang had become very weak due to a prolonged hunger strike.Even after this, the demand for his release was raised. But the Chinese officers, strictly speaking, refused to release Zhang.
