Mid-Day Meal Scheme: Students did not get cooking cost for one year, Jharkhand State Food Commission initiated action
In Jharkhand, the Jharkhand State Food Commission has started action for not paying the amount of cooking cost for more than a year. He has asked the question why the amount of cooking cost has not been paid to the students since September 2020.
Jharkhand mid day meal latest news Ranchi :Under themid day mealscheme, Jharkhand State Food Commission has taken seriously the non-payment of cooking cost in Jharkhand for more than a year.The commission has sent a letter to the Education Department asking why the amount of cooking cost has not been paid to the students since September 2020?Has departmental action been initiated against the responsible officials in the matter?
The commission has also wanted to know that from September 2020 till now, what is the status of payment of the amount of cooking cost and the amount to be given in lieu of egg or fruit across the state?The mid-day meal scheme is closed for the prevention of infection during the Corona period.In lieu of this, in the light of the decision taken by the government, there is a provision to give 100 grams of rice per day to the students of classes I to V and 150 grams of rice per day to the students of classes VI to VIII.

Also, there is a provision to pay Rs 4.48 and Rs 6.67 per day for cooking cost for pulses, vegetables, oil and spices respectively.But, the education department has not paid the amount since September 2020.This is a violation of section 5(1) of the National Food Security Act-2013.There is a provision of Food Security Allowance under Rule 9(1) of the Mid-Day Meal Rules.
