In Bihar's Samastipur Railway Division, a railway engineer sold a railway engine to the scrap mafia. The engineer also got the entry of a pickup van inside the scrap in the inward register of the shed with the connivance of a inspector working at the diesel shed post. But this matter came to light with the understanding of a lady constable posted there. The engineer fled as soon as the matter was opened.

Rajeev Ranjan Jha, engineer of Samastipur Loco Diesel Shed, sold the old steam engine of a small line standing for years near Purnia Court station of Railway Division to a scrap dealer by showing fake office order of DME. On December 14, Rajiv along with helper Sushil Yadav got this steam engine cut with a gas cutter at Purnia Court station and started its transportation from there. When Purnia RPF out post in-charge MM Rahman stopped taking the engine from there, he showed the order of the DME of Samastipur Diesel Shed and said that the junk of this engine has to be taken to the Diesel Shed.

On the other hand, constable Sangeeta posted in the diesel shed saw the entry of the pickup van in the scrap load the next day, but she did not see the scrap brought anywhere. Sangeeta informed this to the senior officers. Then the investigation of the case started. Divisional Security Commissioner AK Lal said, MM Rahman started the investigation regarding the letter issued from the diesel shed, then the DME of the shed refused to issue any such letter.

Engineer absconding, inspector suspended

Even after investigation for two days, when the information about the scrap loaded vehicle was not received, an FIR was lodged. In this, seven people including engineer Rajiv Ranjan Jha, helper Sushil Yadav have been made accused. Since the opening of the case, the RPF team is continuously raiding for the arrest of Rajiv Jha. On the orders of DRM Alok Agarwal, in addition to the engineer and helper, Inspector Virendra Dwivedi posted at the Diesel Shed Post has been suspended with immediate effect.
