Meanwhile, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has upheld a trial court's order awarding death sentence to a 26-year-old man for allegedly raping and killing a seven-year-old Dalit girl. The court said that the trial court in its order has proved that this case is one of the rarest cases in which capital punishment can be awarded.
