Had the IED exploded in the busiest market, there could have been a lot of casualties. On Friday, the security forces saw a suspicious bag. The pressure cooker and some wires were visible in it. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called to the spot after being informed about the pressure cooker being an IED. As a precaution, the security forces closed the shops and traffic was stopped in the entire area. When the Bomb Disposal Squad investigated, the IED was found in the cooker. It is said that a grenade was also kept along with the IED. The IED was taken away by the team which was defused.

30 kg IED seized in Tengpora area in July 2021

According to the army, due to timely action, a major incident was averted. The Ganderbal-based Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, JKP and CRPF carried out a search operation at Tengpora on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday. During this, an IED weighing 30 kg was recovered. The IED was defused by the Army's Bomb Disposal Squad.

Ten kg IED was recovered on July 6 IEDs of nine to 10 kg were kept in a black bag. Terrorist organization The Resistance Front (TRF) had taken the responsibility of planting this IED.

On Saturday, they found a suspicious black bag at a distance of 40 meters from the Chanpora police post, police said. This information was given to the bomb disposal squad of the police. The police sealed the area and stopped the traffic there for some time. The sniffer dogs of CRPF were also called to the spot.

Told that the bomb disposal squad reached the spot and took the suspicious bag to a safe place. People were evacuated from nearby houses. It was triggered by a controlled blast by placing sand sacks around this bag. The sound of explosion was heard far and wide. According to sources, it was an IED of 9 to 10 kg. After the incident, a search operation was conducted in the adjoining areas.
