Home Minister Amit Shah has hit out at the Congress after the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the Zakia Jafri case related to the 2002 Gujarat riots. He clearly said that after the Godhra riots, the then Gujarat government did not delay in calling the army, whereas during the 1984 riots, the Congress government had deployed the army three days later.

Union Home Minister Shah said this in a discussion with news agency ANI's journalist Smita Prakash on Saturday. The Home Minister expressed satisfaction over the Supreme Court's decision on Zakia Jafri's petition regarding the Gujarat riots. Shah said that the Supreme Court dismissed all the allegations against PM Modi. False allegations were leveled against PM Modi.

Former Punjab DGP KPS Gill praised

Amit Shah saying that there was no delay on the part of Gujarat government in calling the army to deal with the situation during the 2002 Godhra incident and the subsequent riots. Former Punjab DGP KPS Gill had also described the Gujarat government's decision as quick and neutral. Targeting the Congress, he said that so many Sikhs were killed in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, but no action was taken for three days, but the Gujarat government did not delay anything. Shah said that when the Gujarat bandh was called, only then we had called the army. The army takes some time to reach, but the Gujarat government did not delay even a day. This has also been praised by the court.

Let us inform, Zakia Jafri, wife of former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, who was killed during the Gujarat riots, had challenged the SIT report in the Supreme Court, in which the then CM of the state Narendra Modi and others were given a clean chit. The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed Zakia's plea.

How many SITs were formed after 1984 riots?

Home Minister Shah attacked the Congress, saying that the army headquarters is in Delhi and a large number of soldiers are present in the city, but in 1984 many Sikhs were killed, yet the then Congress government did nothing for three days. He questioned that how many Special Investigation Teams (SITs) were formed when Congress told? How many were arrested? But after the government came to the Centre, we formed an SIT on the 84 riots. The Home Minister said that I am a witness, at the time of Gujarat riots, PM Modi did everything to bring the situation under control. No CM of the country would have taken such strict steps to deal with the situation.

900 people were killed in police firing,

Shah said that there are 100-150 policemen in a police station, if we put in extra force, it equals only 400. If there is a crowd of around two lakh people then it takes time to control the situation in the state. In Gujarat riots every action was taken to control the riots including lathi charge, firing etc. 900 people were killed in the firing. He referred to the remarks of KPS Gill, who is credited with ending terrorism in Punjab. Shah said the government takes time to make arrangements to control a riot-like situation. At that time, Gill had also come to help the Modi government in Gujarat. He himself told me that he had never seen such a quick and neutral act in his entire life. However, charges were also leveled against Gill.
