There is bad news for the wine lovers of Uttar Pradesh. Today i.e. on June 26 (Sunday), the shutter of liquor shops across the state will be down. All licensed shops of liquor, beer and cannabis will remain closed on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. In an order issued by the Excise Department, it has been said that on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trade, it has been decided to observe 'Dry Day' by keeping liquor, beer and cannabis shops closed on Sunday. .

Let us tell you that 26 June is celebrated as the International Day Against Drug and Drug Abuse. This is the first time in Uttar Pradesh that June 26 has been declared a dry day. The purpose of celebrating 26 June as International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is considered to be an attempt to make people aware about the harmful effects of drugs and to build a society free from drug abuse.

Let us tell you that World Drug Day started on 26 June 1989. Behind this was to curb the increasing tendency of drugs among the youth. Whereas the celebration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was passed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 7, 1987, under resolution 42/112. The theme of the International Day is "Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crises" ("Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crises").
