The jawans of the Assam Rogiment had received information about the hiding of two militants in the Kakapathar area of the district.
An encounter broke out between the militant organization ULFA I (United Liberation Front of Assam) and security forces in the Tinsukia district of Assam on Friday. Meanwhile, a member of ULFA is reported to have been killed. This information was given by the district's SP Debojit Deori. He told that there was information about infiltration with ammunition of 6 cadres of ULFA. During the search operation, the insurgency organization started firing on the security forces. The firing took place from both sides for about 30 minutes.
Search operation continues in the area
According to media reports, the soldiers of the Assam Regiment had received information about the hiding of two militants in the Kakapathar area of the district. After which the security forces started encircling the area. During this, the ULFA militants came to know about it and attacked with a grenade. It is being told that under the leadership of Rupam Assam, 6 militants of the ULFA organization were involved. At present, the search operation is going on in the area. Upper Assam Jitmal Dole and Tinsukia SP Debjit Deori are present at the spot.
ULFA chief announced ceasefire
It is worth noting that after Himanta Biswa Sarma became the Chief Minister in Assam, ULFA I chief Paresh Barua had declared a ceasefire. In an interview given to the media, Paresh Barua had told that the strikes by ULFA can become an obstacle in the ceasefire. He also appealed to the youth of ULFA to lay down arms. According to media reports, in the last few days, many youths of Assam have joined ULFA I.
