5G Spectrum Auction: Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Wednesday that bids worth Rs 1.49 lakh crore have been received on the second day of auction of fifth-generation ( 5G ) spectrum. Vaishnav said that the ninth round of bidding is going on. The government had received bids worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore after the completion of the fourth round of spectrum bidding on Tuesday, the first day of the auction.

Ashwini Vaishnav said earlier on Tuesday that the department has completed the process in record time by working expeditiously for the 5G auction. Ashwini Vaishnav said that by the end of the day 4 rounds have been completed. He said that looking at the auction so far, it seems that this time the maximum revenue will come.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Tuesday that we have received revenue of Rs 1.45 lakh crore from today's auction. All the participants have participated in this auction. We have to complete this process by August 14 and 5G service will start in the country by September-October.

It is being told that after the completion of the auction process for 5G, telecom companies will inform about its rollout. Jio (Reliance Jio), Vodafone Idea and Airtel are participating in the spectrum auction. Adani Data Networks of Adani Group is also included in this race.
