Ranchi: The Calcutta High Court has dismissed the plea of three arrested Jharkhand Congress MLAs to hand over the investigation to the CBI. The court has instead allowed the CID to continue the investigation in an impartial manner. Three Congress MLAs, Dr Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Vixal Kongadi arrested with money. Accordingly, the High Court ordered.
Questions raised on CID investigation
After hearing in the Calcutta High Court on Thursday, dismissing the petition of the MLAs, the CID was allowed to continue the investigation in an impartial manner. Let us tell you that three Congress MLAs had filed a petition raising questions on the CID investigation. The three arrested Congress MLAs had applied in the High Court for speedy hearing of the matter.
Had demanded to be handed over to the CBI or any central investigating agency
The MLAs said in their petition that the investigation of this case should be handed over to the CBI or any central investigating agency. In their petition, the legislators had said that the investigation process of the Bengal government could be influenced politically. On the basis of this, the petition was heard in the High Court on Thursday.
Three Congress MLAs were arrested on July 30 with Rs 49 lakh
It is to be known that on July 30, 2022, three Jharkhand Congress MLAs were caught by the Howrah Police of West Bengal with Rs 49 lakh. After this the investigation of this case was handed over to the CID. Under this, the three MLAs had questioned the CID investigation. Here, on Wednesday, on behalf of the three MLAs, the advocate had appealed for a speedy hearing of the matter before the judge. Advocate Siddharth Luthra had said in the High Court that the seized money has not been described as arrested under Income Tax or Black Money Act.
